Brothers and sisters in Christ, today I bring to your attention the troubling development across the pond, where Keir Starmer, a man aligned with the left-leaning Labour Party, has now become Britain's prime minister. This man proclaims a "government of service," and while service itself is a biblical principle (Galatians 5:13), we must ask ourselves: whose values will he serve? (Joshua 24:15). Labour's victory is not just a political shift; it represents a spiritual battlefront where traditional values are under siege. Starmer's pledge to serve all Britons and his veiled jab at those who have "written our country off" could be seen as a push against the conservativism that reflects our Christian values (Proverbs 29:2). The "changed Labour" he advertises may be nothing more than a sheep in wolf's clothing (Matthew 7:15), purging elements only to appear palatable while the core may still resist the teachings of our Lord. As Conservative lawmakers concede with grace, we are reminded in 1 Peter 5:5 that "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble." But the humility exhibited by Rishi Sunak in taking responsibility for his loss must be coupled with vigilance. We stand firm against the tide that might seek to erode the sanctity of life, the sanctity of marriage, and the divine order set by our Creator (Genesis 2:24, Exodus 20:13). While politics can indeed be a force for good, that goodness is determined by the foundation upon which it is built. If that foundation is not Christ, then it is as the house built upon the sand, destined to fall when the rains come (Matthew 7:26-27). Starmer's assertion that his government will show politics can be a force for good needs to be scrutinized in the light of Truth (John 14:6). Let us pray for our brothers and sisters in the United Kingdom, that they may discern the times and stand strong in their faith. Let us hope they hold fast to what is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21) and shun evil, ensuring their government does not diverge from the narrow path that leads to life (Matthew 7:13-14). In these times, I urge all believers to put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes (Ephesians 6:11). We should remember that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.. God's kingdom is the one true government we should yearn for, and until His return, we remain soldiers for Christ, vigilant and steadfast in our resolve to uphold His Word in all aspects of our lives, including how we engage with the shifting sands of worldly politics. Let us not be deceived; let us march forward in truth.
