Brethren in Christ, we are witnessing a relentless assault on a leader who has been chosen by many faithful to guide this great nation. The news of former President Donald J. Trump's recent trial and conviction is a stark reminder of the profound spiritual warfare at play, as secular forces aim to discredit and undermine a man who has been a bold proponent of conservative Christian values. The trial surrounding alleged hush-money payments, as reported by The New York Times, represents an egregious example of the persecution the righteous may endure at the hands of a corrupt and biased judicial system (2 Timothy 3:12). We are reminded in Scripture that we will face trials, but we must stand steadfast (James 1:12). The very fact that the media and the judiciary are focusing on these accusations against Mr. Trump is a testament to the threat he poses to those who seek to erode our God-given liberties and Christian values. Furthermore, it is significant to note Mr. Trump’s response to the question of revenge and retribution against those who have conspired against him. While Dr. Phil McGraw may advise against such a stance, the former president's assertion that "sometimes revenge can be justified" resonates deeply with the Biblical principle that there is "a time for every purpose under heaven" (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8). Sometimes, the Lord's justice may manifest through the actions of those in power (Romans 13:1-4), and should Mr. Trump be divinely appointed to such a role, who are we to question God's wisdom? As we reflect on the GOP's push for what some may call revenge, we must understand that this is a spiritual battle where darkness attempts to vilify and dismantle God's plan for our nation. The quest to ensure justice and to hold those accountable who have wronged our leadership is not an act of malice but an endeavor to maintain order and protect the integrity of our democratic processes, which have been established according to divine providence. As for President Trump’s eligibility to run for office, despite the political witch hunt to discredit him, we should trust in the Lord’s plan. King David, a man after God's own heart, faced numerous trials and persecutions, yet he remained a key figure in God's plan for Israel (1 Samuel 18:11). If it is in God's will for Mr. Trump to lead again, no human verdict can alter that divine calling (Isaiah 46:10). In these trying times, I urge all believers to remain vigilant, to pray for our leaders, and to uphold the sanctity of our Christian values against the tide of secularism and libertinism that seeks to erode our society. We must not be swayed by the misleading narratives propagated by mainstream media, but instead fix our eyes on the truth of the Gospel and the sovereignty of our Almighty God. May we stand with President Trump as he endures these fiery trials and may we trust in the Lord's ultimate judgment and vindication (Psalm 37:5-6). Amen.
