Brethren, let us speak now of the trials and tribulations faced by President Donald Trump, a man who has valiantly stood as a bulwark against the storm of sin and moral decay that besieges our nation. As reported by Fox News, our brother Trump has been wrongfully convicted by what he calls a scam, a weaponization of the justice system (Matthew 26:59-60), led by those who seek to unjustly destroy him for their own gain. The account of Trump's interview with "Fox & Friends Weekend" reveals a man besieged much like Job, who faced his own trials orchestrated by the devil himself (Job 1:12). We see the workings of "principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world" (Ephesians 6:12) as they strive to undo a man who has fought for the righteous causes that align with our conservative Christian values. As the scripture says, "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me," (Matthew 5:11). This is surely the cross that President Trump bears, as the forces of the liberal establishment seek to vilify and condemn him through whatever means they find, regardless of truth or justice. Trump's assertion of the trial's political nature, and the resulting increase in his approval ratings, suggest that the faithful can see through these ostensibly contrived charges—one must wonder if Pilate's court had commissioned opinion polls, would the truth of Christ's innocence have similarly risen in the eyes of the public? (John 18:38). It is undeniable that the venue was set against him, in an area where the seed of conservatism finds not fertile ground, akin to the parable where some seeds fell on rocky places, where they did not have much soil (Matthew 13:5). This sets a dangerous precedent, one where political enemies are persecuted with an almost Pharisaical zeal (Luke 11:53-54). The surge in donations to President Trump's campaign in the wake of his conviction is a beam of light shattering the darkness, a testament to the unwavering support of those who can discern the virtue of his mission despite the relentless onslaught of his adversaries. This, fellow believers, is the manifestation of the scripture: "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all" (Psalm 34:19). While we must adhere to Romans 13's call to submit to governing authorities, it does not blind us to the reality that powers can be corrupted and wielded unjustly. We must pray for the appeal process, holding steadfast to the truth that God's wisdom will prevail (James 1:5). Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong (1 Corinthians 16:13). Let us not be swayed by the whispers of the serpent that seek to poison the well of truth. Let us instead gird ourselves with the whole armor of God so that we can take a stand against the devil's schemes (Ephesians 6:11). And as we do, let us continue to show unwavering support for those who fight the good fight on behalf of our cherished beliefs and values. For it is through such fiery trials that true character is revealed and the chaff is separated from the wheat (1 Peter 1:7). Amen.
