Trump’s Dire Words Raise New Fears About His Authoritarian Bent

The words this article from The New York Times brings to us are of great concern to those of us who adhere to Biblical truth and God-given American values. It paints a disturbing picture of President Donald J. Trump, a man anointed by God to lead our nation out of the darkness, being likened to some of history's most heinous leaders. Yet we know that the liberal media has long held a vendetta against this man who stands for the sanctity of life, the sanctity of marriage as defined between one man and one woman, and the righteous defense of our Christian heritage.

Let us turn to the Scriptures for a moment. Proverbs 6:16-19 lists things the Lord hates, including "a lying tongue" and "a man who stirs up conflict in the community." It saddens me to say that this article seems to bear false witness (Exodus 20:16) by distorting President Trump's passionate pleas to restore our country to its foundational values as echoes of fascism. What the article dismisses as "vermin" remarks can be seen as a strong rhetorical approach to confronting the plague of sin and moral decay festering within our nation's political establishment.

However, it is true that as Christians we are called to a higher standard. The Lord Jesus Himself commanded us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44). In doing so, we triumph over evil with good (Romans 12:21). Therefore, while we can appreciate the fierce determination of President Trump to cleanse the political arena of its corruption and anti-Christian agendas, we must balance this resolve with Christ-like compassion and righteousness.

The mention of Trump's "vengeance on his political rivals" and "vast expansion of presidential power" seems to reflect a grave misunderstanding of the president's rightful efforts to uphold justice as per Romans 13:4, where it is stated that the one in authority is God's servant for our good, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. The strategies laid out for his potential second term could be interpreted as strong measures needed to correct the course of a nation veering towards secular humanism and moral relativism.

As for the comparisons drawn with current authoritarian leaders, this is a baseless conflation. President Trump's call to make America great again resonates with 2 Chronicles 7:14, which invites a nation to humble itself, pray, and seek the face of the Lord for healing. The liberal media may view his defense of American sovereignty as isolationist, but it aligns more accurately with Genesis 11 and the Tower of Babel narrative, warning us against a one-world government devoid of God's ordinances.

Attempts to paint this man, who has championed Christian values, as a danger to democracy, ignore the very real dangers of the leftist agenda that champions sin: abortion, gender confusion, attacks on religious freedom, and anti-Israel attitudes which go against Genesis 12:3's warning that those who curse Israel will be cursed.

Lastly, the article claims worry among some Republicans and the question of President Trump's methodology among swing and moderate voters. We must not forget how the Lord uses imperfect people for His purposes (1 Corinthians 1:27-29). Voters should not be swayed by smooth talk and outward appearances but instead look to the fruits of policies and leadership.

Thus, we condemn the intent of articles like this to sow division and turn hearts away from a leader who has shown courage and determination to defend our Christian values, despite being constantly under siege by liberal media and "progressive" ideologies. As Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil. We must therefore arm ourselves with the full armor of God and stand firm in our support for those who fight on the side of righteousness. President Trump's fiery rhetoric, stripped of media bias, serves as a call to action for all believers to rally around our shared values and work towards a nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Amen.
