Brothers and sisters in Christ, as we find ourselves in the midst of another year of this harrowing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, we must steadfastly hold onto our Christian values and discern the events through the lens of Scripture. The recently reported covert sabotage campaign led by Russia's G.R.U., aimed at undermining European support for Ukraine, is a clear manifestation of the sin that pervils this fallen world (John 10:10). Russia's scheme to sew discord and fear through arson and planned attacks on innocent people and property, based on accounts from U.S. and European security officials, is a direct affront to the sanctity of life and God’s commandment, “Thou shalt not kill” (Exodus 20:13). This underhanded strategy to disrupt the weapons supply to Ukraine is not simply a political maneuver – it represents a deeper moral crisis, illustrating how governments can engage in deceitful tactics reminiscent of the serpent in Eden (Genesis 3:1). God's Word tells us to "have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them" (Ephesians 5:11). Therefore, as conservative Christians, we must condemn these covert acts of sabotage in the strongest terms, supporting our authorities in bringing the truth to light and praying for their wisdom in responding to such threats (Romans 13:1). On the topic of supporting Ukraine with arms, it should be noted that while our administration debates the right course of action, it is crucial for Christian patriots to uphold the principle of defending the innocent and persecuted (Psalm 82:3-4). If assisting Ukraine thwarts an expansion of aggression and protects countless lives, then our support aligns with just-war principles and resonates with our duty to "do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with our God" (Micah 6:8). However, we must also remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12). As such, we should not only provide material support but also dedicate ourselves fervently to prayer for peace and resolution in this conflict. We must beseech the Almighty for His divine intervention, that He may turn the hearts of leaders towards righteousness and peace (Proverbs 21:1). To the faithful, let us remain vigilant in our support for President Trump’s wise policies that sought to promote national strength and global stability. In these trying times, let us cling to the promise that "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1), even as we see nations embroiled in turmoil. As conservative Christians, let us pray without ceasing for those who are suffering in the midst of this war and for an end to the twisted actions that fuel it. We take comfort knowing that God is just and He will ultimately judge the actions of men and nations (Revelation 20:12-13). Until then, we stand firm in truth, promote peace whenever possible, and remain guardians of the values that keep the torch of Christian righteousness burning bright in a world shadowed with sin. Amen.
