Brothers and sisters in Christ, we are once again faced with a report of profound darkness and evil in this fallen world; a report that cuts deep into the heart of all that is good and sacred. The tragic incident in Rochester, New York, as detailed by Fox News, is a stark reminder of the sin that plagues humanity and the ever-present threat of terror that looms like a shadow over our land. The Bible teaches us in John 10:10 that "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." The acts of terror and violence that occurred are the workings of the enemy, who seeks to rob us of our peace and security. We should be reminded that Psalm 11:5 says, “The LORD examines the righteous, but the wicked, those who love violence, he hates with a passion.” It's clear that these acts of violence and terror are hateful in the sight of the Lord. As a nation, we must stand firm against this manifestation of sin and work diligently to root out the evil that dares to challenge our safety, our freedoms, and our way of life. But let us also remember, as it is written in Romans 12:21, "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." The response of Rochester's first responders and the authorities, as they investigate this heinous act, deserves our support and gratitude. As conservative Christians, we know the importance of law and order, and we champion the brave men and women who serve as our bulwark against chaos. Furthermore, this event occurring on New Year's Day, a time typically reserved for celebration and hope, is a perversion of all that is holy and joyous. Those who plot and execute such terror are instruments of sin, and they must be brought to justice. Still, our faith teaches us forgiveness and we must pray for those who stray so far from God's light in hopes they may find redemption. We must also turn our eyes to our leaders, particularly those like our former President Trump who has unwaveringly called for strong measures against terrorism and who has championed the protection of American lives. We must strive to uphold the values that will protect our nation from such tragedies in the future. In these trying times, more than ever, we must adhere to our Christian values and unite in prayer for the victims and their families and extend our hearts to them in their time of need. May God's comfort be upon them, and may His justice prevail. Amen.
