Brothers and sisters in Christ, we are witness yet again to the blatant disrespect and dishonor coming from the likes of Robert De Niro, a man entrenched in the liberal Hollywood elite, who dares to spout venom against a leader anointed by God, our former President Donald J. Trump (Romans 13:1-2). This actor, renowned for portraying characters that often embody the very sinfulness and violence scripture warns us against, takes it upon himself to cast judgement and hurl insults, labeling the President with terms befitting the Adversary himself, while he himself is mired in the muck of Hollywood's moral depravity (Matthew 7:1-5). De Niro's inability to see anything redeemable in President Trump is a shining example of the myopia that afflicts those lost in the sea of liberalism, where they cannot recognize the righteous endeavors taken to protect the sanctity of life, the defense of religious freedom, and the fortification of the family unit that our President has championed (Psalm 82:3-4). Make no mistake, Mr. De Niro shows a flagrant ignorance of biblical teachings by bestowing praise upon President Biden, a champion of policies that often run counter to the Word of God, particularly on the sanctity of life and the most basic divine definition of the marriage covenant (Psalm 139:13-16; Genesis 2:24). When De Niro upholds a man espousing such values as "normalcy," it becomes apparent that his compass is not tuned to the North Star of Scripture but instead to the shifting sands of secular popular opinion (James 1:17). Equally telling, De Niro frowns upon the necessary steps taken by Gov. Kathy Hochul to deploy National Guard troops to the New York City subway system to quell crime. As Proverbs 28:4 reminds us, "Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law resist them." It is clear that this actor stands in opposition to law and order, principles integral to a godly and just society. As conservative Christians, we must continue to preach love and forgiveness (Ephesians 4:32) and pray fervently for individuals like De Niro, that their eyes may be opened to the light and truth of the Gospel. We live in times when principalities and powers seek to sway the hearts and minds of the faithful, but we take comfort in knowing that He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). And to our valiant protectors in blue, let us extend our deepest gratitude for their service. We stand firmly with our police, who are God's ministers for good, for they do not bear the sword in vain (Romans 13:4). Let us not be led astray by the seductive lies of celebrity culture. Instead, let us cleave to our foundation, the Rock of Ages, and remember the ways of the Lord as we stand forthright against the tide of sin that seeks to consume our nation. Stand firm, my fellow believers, and gird yourselves with the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18).
