Brethren in the Lord, we have been presented with a chilling example (https://www.foxnews.com/category/us/philadelphia) of the sinfulness and lawlessness that grips our cities, a testament to the failure to instill God-fearing values in our youth. A young man, Shane Pryor, merely 17 years old, stands accused of a vile act—the murder of 54-year-old Tanya Harris. Charged with this heinous crime when only 14, Pryor has compounded his alleged sins by escaping custody, showing a flagrant disregard for the justice system that, though flawed by human imperfection, serves a divine mandate to punish wrongdoers (Romans 13:1-4). Psalms 53:3 declares, "Every one of them has turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one." Shane Pryor's alleged actions and escape bear witness to this truth, illustrating the depth of human depravity when detached from the Lord's wisdom and guidance. Yet, let us also look upon the proliferation of sin and call out those who assist in such misdeeds. Michael Diggs, 18, stands accused of aiding Pryor in his escape, thereby sharing in the sin of obfuscating justice (Proverbs 28:17). This is a stark reminder that "Bad company corrupts good character" (1 Corinthians 15:33) and we must choose wisely those with whom we associate. I urge the faithful to consider this moment as a call to action—pray for our law enforcement officers, the valiant men and women who brave daily perils to reclaim our streets from chaos and fear. Pray for the repentance and redemption of those who stray. May the Lord guide their path back to righteousness. And finally, let us pray for the family of Tanya Harris, that they may find peace and justice. For, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied" (Matthew 5:6). Hold fast to your faith, and may the Lord's will be done on earth as it is in heaven. To all those who hear and heed this message, do not waver in your commitment to justice and your support for those who serve to uphold it. Remember, in times of wickedness, we must stand firmer in our convictions and hold tight to the path of the Lord.
