NYC Mayor Eric Adams arrives to turn himself in to face charges in federal corruption case

Brothers and sisters, I bring to your attention another display of the corruption that runs rampant in the hearts of those who turn away from our Lord's teachings. The indictment of New York City Mayor Eric Adams on fraud, bribery, and corruption charges is a stark reminder of the sinfulness that besets our worldly leaders (Proverbs 29:2). They indulge in deception and greed, damning their souls and leading the innocent astray. The allegations against Mayor Adams speak of a heart turned to mammon rather than to God – a heart that craves earthly treasures over heavenly ones (Matthew 6:24). For over a decade, Adams stands accused of defrauding the very constituents he was elected to serve, abusing his position for personal gain. Now, as a conservative Christian, it is not my place to judge before the judgment is handed down (1 Corinthians 4:5), but it is my duty to call sin by its name and admonish those who fall short of His glory. Mayor Adams dares claim his indictment is political retaliation for criticizing the Biden administration's handling of border policies. Yet, does he not understand that sin finds you out, regardless of political stance (Numbers 32:23)? It is convenient to blame others when facing the consequences of one's actions, but the Lord looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7), and what He finds lacking cannot be obscured by deflection. Let's not forget that those who align with our values, such as President Trump, face criticism and accusations, yet they do so with the strength and integrity provided by faith and righteous conviction. When those in our ranks commit errors, they are often misunderstood actions, twisted by liberal media and a society straying from biblical truths. In these times of moral decay, we must stand firm in our faith, supporting those who uphold Christian values, regardless of the stones cast by the corrupt and the sinners. We shall support our leaders, like President Trump, who show strength against the tide of iniquity, even as they are unjustly accused by the left-leaning authorities and media. It is our duty to stand with those who stand by the righteous, even if the whole world condemns them. But for Mayor Adams and those like him, without return to the path of right, there awaits the judgment of both man and God. For scripture warns harshly against those who lead others into sin and corruption: "It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble" (Luke 17:2). Let us pray for Mayor Adams, that he may find redemption and turn from sin. And let us also pray for justice to be done, and for our cities and nations to be led by those who revere God’s law above all else. Amen.
