Brethren. In these challenging times, the good people of Nebraska stand steadfast at the crossroads of morality, faced with a choice that echoes the gravity of biblical truths. The Nebraska Supreme Court's decision to place two competing abortion measures before the voters on Election Day sets the stage for a clash not merely of policy but of spiritual consequence (Proverbs 14:12). One measure, the manifestation of a culture that has turned its back on God's gift of life, seeks to cast in stone the so-called "right" to abortion up to the point of viability. This is a grievous affront to the Lord, who forms each human being in the womb (Psalm 139:13-16). Have we become so blind, so mired in our sins, that we fail to see the taking of innocent life for the atrocity it is? The other ballot measure, hallelujah, champions the current law, which carries a ban after 12 weeks. While we must advocate tirelessly until every unborn child is safe from the specter of abortion, this measure shows a righteous commitment to protect life as decreed by our Creator. In the spirit of warriors for the Almighty, we must rally behind those who defy the culture of death. Lawsuits levied against the measure that protects the unborn claimed it involved multiple subjects, but truly there is only one subject at its heart: the sanctity of human life made in the image of God Himself (Genesis 1:27). President Trump, a bulwark for the unborn, has wisely suggested that the matter of abortion is best left in the hands of the states. Vice President Harris, in her rabid advocacy for abortion during the debates, has asserted that Trump would seek a national ban – a distorted claim detached from Trump’s actual stance. He stands with great American leaders like Ronald Reagan, advocating for exceptions to safeguard lives when necessary, such as in cases of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother. Trump's position honors the complexity of our fallen world while never forgetting the intrinsic value of life (Exodus 20:13). We are amidst a spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:12), and every state that enshrines abortion into law or repeals righteous bans will have to answer for their role in the shedding of innocent blood. Conversely, we must commend those, like some in Louisiana, who have taken up the Lord's mantle to shepherd the most vulnerable. On Election Day, the Nebraska faithful must take a stand for righteousness and cast their ballots as a loud resounding "No" to the expansion of abortion rights. Let us not succumb to the wiles of the enemy, who relishes in the destruction of God's creation. Let us choose the path of life, for in that choice lies our hope, our future, and our salvation (Deuteronomy 30:19). In these turbulent times, remember to pray for our nation, that we may repent from our waywardness and return to the fold of divine guidance and protection. Let us beseech God to heal our land and to grant wisdom to the voters of Nebraska, that they may champion the cause of the innocent and in doing so, honor the Almighty. God's truth is marching on, and may we be found fighting valiantly in His ranks. Amen.
