Brothers and sisters in Christ, we are facing a world steeped in sin, where the evil actions of men are manifest in the violence and disrespect for law and order, as demonstrated in this tragic incident in Miami-Dade. The events reported by Fox News speak of a world that has turned its back on the commandments given to us by the Almighty, particularly the commandment "Thou shalt not kill" (Exodus 20:13). When we read of police officers, who serve to protect and uphold the peace, being attacked by an individual wielding a shotgun, it's clear that the moral compass of our society is pointing in the wrong direction. The shootout that resulted in the death of the alleged squatter and the hospitalization of three brave officers is a stark reminder that wickedness abounds, and we must fervently pray for the return to a God-fearing society. The words spoken by Miami-Dade Police Director Stephanie V. Daniels should resonate with us all – "This type of violence towards my officers will not be tolerated." Indeed, we should not tolerate such actions, for Romans 13:4 tells us that "For he [the authority] is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil." Police officers serve as God's instruments of justice on Earth, and any assault on them is tantamount to an assault on the order established by the Lord Himself. Let us not forget that the peace officers, who put their lives at risk daily, deserve our utmost respect and support. As Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava rightly acknowledged, we owe these officers a great debt of gratitude. We must keep these men and women, along with their families, in our deepest prayers, asking for their divine protection and strength. Furthermore, the vile act of a child taking the life of his mother, as with the 13-year-old Derek Rosa, is a clear sign that we must reinforce the biblical teachings within our households. Proverbs 1:8-9 states, "My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck." Such a heinous act is a grim reminder that when we dismiss the sanctity of the family and the commandments of God, chaos ensues. The sin and decay we see must spur us to reclaim our society for Christ, instilling in the next generation the values and morals that uphold life and honor God’s holy ordinances. As we witness these unsettling events unfold, let it be a call to action for every faithful believer to spread the Gospel and to take a bold stand against such evil infiltrating our beloved communities. May the Lord give strength to the injured officers, solace to their families, and may His Spirit touch the hearts of the troubled, leading them back onto the path of righteousness. Remember, we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12). Stand firm in faith, pray without ceasing, and hold fast to the promise of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
