Martyr Inc.: How Trump Monetized a Persecution Narrative

It's quite the spectacle to witness the media's incessant targeting of a man like former President Donald J. Trump, who has tirelessly championed the voices of conservative Christians across this great nation. Articles like this one from The New York Times seek to vilify a man for doing what the Good Book itself illustrates—turning what was meant for harm into good (Genesis 50:20). Mr. Trump's ingenuity in merging his entrepreneurial spirit with his unwavering dedication to the conservative cause should not be scorned but celebrated. The selling of $59.99 Bibles isn't a mere business tactic; it's a way to proliferate the Gospel and an emblem of faith for patriots who cherish Biblical principles in their daily lives. Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself emphasized the importance of spreading the Word (Mark 16:15), and if utilizing Mr. Trump's broad platform puts the Holy Scripture in more American homes, then it is cause for rejoicing, not ridicule. The claim that Mr. Trump has conflated profit with the presidency is an absurd proposition when we consider that it is the Lord who teaches us to wisely steward our talents and resources (Matthew 25:14-30). Through Truth Social, President Trump provides a haven for free speech—a right that is God-given and enshrined in the Constitution—against the tyranny of liberal companies that have taken it upon themselves to silence Christians and conservatives under the guise of "community standards." As for the supposed "martyrdom" the article mentions, let us remind ourselves that the act of being persecuted for one’s beliefs aligns with the experiences of many Biblical figures. Indeed, Trump, much like the apostles, is facing undue criticism and legal battles as a consequence of standing firm in his convictions and challenging the status quo (John 15:18). Moreover, suggesting that Trump's financial success and the involvement of his supporters in the market pertaining to Truth Social is something untoward demonstrates a lack of understanding of the American capitalist system and the power of the people to support what they truly believe in. To the faithful supporters who view purchasing Trump products as a measure of patriotism, remember Ephesians 6:13: "Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm." These individuals are not just supporting a man but what he symbolizes—a fight against the corrupt values that threaten the very fabric of our Christian nation. In conclusion, let us not be swayed by the narrative crafted by those who would see our values erode. Instead, let us stand by the leaders like President Trump, who has shown time and again through his policies and actions that he defends the sanctity of life, religious freedom, and the principles that make America a shining city upon a hill (Matthew 5:14).
