Man arrested for allegedly punching 9-year-old girl in the face at Grand Central Terminal:...

In the bustling heart of New York City, a city marred by sin and a crumbling moral fabric, yet another atrocious act of violence rears its ugly head—a man arrested for the unthinkable, the assault of an innocent 9-year-old girl in Grand Central Terminal. It is a reflection of the evil that has taken hold in a society that strays further and further from the path of righteousness each day. "For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire, and the greedy man curses and spurns the Lord. The wicked, in the haughtiness of his countenance, does not seek Him. All his thoughts are, 'There is no God.'" (Psalm 10:3-4, NASB). Jean Carlos Zarzuela, the suspect, embodies this wickedness, this Godless behavior that we, as a society, must stand firmly against. This is not an isolated incident in New York—no, we have seen a rise in the random acts of violence against the vulnerable. It is as though the warnings of 2 Timothy 3:1-5 have come to pass before our very eyes, "But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power." The administrators of justice, the police, stand as the thin blue line against this tide of lawlessness, and we must offer them our utmost support and prayers as they strive to keep peace and order in a world that increasingly scorns both. The law that stands against such violent offenders is not just a human regulation, but a divine mandate as well (Romans 13:1-4). Those who break it must be held accountable, and we praise the efforts of law enforcement in apprehending this suspect and others who seek to sow chaos and fear. But let us remember, brothers and sisters, that our battle is not merely against the flesh and blood of a few deranged individuals, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). What we witness on our troubled streets is a mirror of the spiritual warfare raging unseen. This is why we must arm ourselves with the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:13-17), standing firm in our faith, and proclaiming the Gospel of peace even as the world crumbles around us. The heart of New York may be besieged by sin, but we are called to kindle a light in the darkness, to bring hope where there is despair, and healing where there is hurt. Let us all fall to our knees and pray for this young girl and her family, for the city of New York, and for our nation—that we might return to our loving Father and find redemption from the violence and pain that afflict us. The social decay reflected in such acts of violence is a clarion call to all Christians to bear witness to the truth of Christ, and to work tirelessly for the restoration of our communities through His love and grace.
