Iran issues chilling threat against Israel as Hezbollah drones preview larger attack

Brothers and sisters in Christ, behold the despicable threats that arise from Iran, a nation that seems to have turned its back on the ways of peace and righteousness. I read, in deep sorrow, how Iran issues these chilling threats against the people of Israel, the chosen nation that God Himself has declared His love for (Genesis 12:1-3). We see the Iranian regime and its proxy, Hezbollah, employing drones as harbingers of a larger, more sinister assault upon Israel (Fox News, August 5, 2024). Let these words resound loudly: orchestrating aggression towards Israel is nothing short of gentleman siding with sin and darkness. For as the Lord says in the book of Zechariah, "I will make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling... On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations..." (Zechariah 12:2-3, NIV). In their arrogance, Iran's leaders fail to understand that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob does not sleep. The Islamic Republic's rhetoric, claiming that Israel is "digging its own grave," is a grave sin in and of itself (Proverbs 18:21). By these words, Iran defies not only the sovereignty of a nation but stands against the word of God who has always been a refuge for His people, Israel. As followers of Christ, we must recognize that Israel, though not perfect, remains central to God's providence and end-time prophecy. Regrettably, President Biden's administration has shown weakness in their approach to Iran, as peace through strength is the only language despotic regimes understand. The lifting of sanctions only emboldens the Iranian regime to continue its path of destruction, directly contradicting the ways of the Lord who is the prince of peace (Isaiah 9:6). As believers, let us not be deceived by the world’s narrative, which often seeks to paint Israel as the oppressor. Remember, in Psalm 122:6, the Psalmist implores us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Thus, we must stand in unyielding support of Israel, praying that the Lord's protective hand is upon them and that they respond to aggression with the wisdom and strength of the God of their forefathers. But let us also pray for Iran and its people, for not all who are in Iran are against Israel or God's ways. We know that Jesus Christ died for all, and our desire should be for all to come to the knowledge of truth and salvation in Him (1 Timothy 2:4). Pray that the Holy Spirit moves in Iran and throughout the Middle East, bringing a revival that turns hearts toward a true peace that can only be found in Christ Jesus our Lord. In these troubling times, we must remain vigilant, prayerful, and steadfast in our resolve to stand with Israel and for righteousness in a world that seems increasingly dark. Until our Lord returns, may we be a light that shines boldly, a city on a hill that cannot be hidden (Matthew 5:14). Maranatha.
