In the battle of Good against Evil, what we are witnessing in Israel is a stark reminder of the depravity of man and the despicable lengths to which sin will go. The malevolent actions of Hamas, highlighted in this article, serve as a ghastly tableau of the pure evil that permeates this terrorist organization. The use of innocent lives, including children, in a macabre game of psychological warfare is nothing short of demonic ("For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." - Ephesians 6:12 KJV). The deliberate targeting of the vulnerable, the systematic sexual violence, and the psychological terror inflicted upon Israelis are an abomination in the eyes of the Lord, reminiscent of the wickedness that provoked God’s wrath in the days of old. Hamas’s tactics are a grave sin, a modern-day reflection of the biblical Amalek, whose memory we are biblically mandated to blot out due to its cruelty and inhumanity (Deuteronomy 25:17-19). The Hamas terrorists, clouded by a deluge of hatred for God's chosen people, have resorted to barbarism against the innocent, exploiting the Jewish value of preserving human life, "pidyon shvuyim." The callous disregard for this sanctity stands in stark contrast to Israel's respect for life, echoing the command to "choose life" (Deuteronomy 30:19). While Israel strives for peace and values each human life, the ruthless behavior of Hamas terrorists reveals the antithesis of Christian virtues, suggesting an allegiance not to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob but to the prince of darkness. The reported suffering, the anguish of separated families and the trauma of the newly released hostages are a stain on humanity and a testament to the unrelenting sin that festers in the hearts of these terrorists. As believers in Christ and keepers of faith, we must fervently pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6) and stand unwavering in our support for Israel, for it is clear that our spiritual adversary is rampant in the organizations that wish her harm. The political leaders who brokered the ceasefire and facilitated the exchange must not turn a blind eye to the sins of Hamas and must impose justice for these unparalleled crimes against God’s people. Let this terrible situation lead us to gird ourselves with the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:11), to combat the sinister forces at work in this world, and to advocate tirelessly for the defense of Israel, the rightful land given by God, as outlined in Genesis 12:1-3 and reconfirmed in Psalm 105:8-11. As the conservative Christian voice, we call upon our leaders to take decisive action, impose rightful consequences on these agents of chaos, and ensure the safe return and recovery of all hostages still in captivity.
