The deplorable behavior displayed by Billie Joe Armstrong and Green Day during their New Year's Eve performance is a lamentable example of how modern culture has strayed far from the God-fearing, respectful society our forefathers intended. Changing the lyrics of a song to directly attack the MAGA agenda, which stands for the righteous reclamation of American values under the guidance of President Trump, is nothing short of blasphemy against this nation's Christian underpinnings. Let us not be deceived, for the Bible warns us in 2 Timothy 3:1-5, "...in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive...having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power." Green Day's actions fit eerily into this prophecy, as they mock the MAGA movement that seeks to rejuvenate a nation under God, not one wallowing in progressivism and liberal disdain for traditional values. Furthermore, Armstrong's audacity to compare President Trump to Adolf Hitler is historically ignorant and an insult to the memory of those who suffered under real tyranny. Romans 13:1-2 commands us to respect governing authorities because God has appointed them for His purposes. Whether or not one agrees with President Trump, it is our duty to show respect for the position and the democratic process that put him there. Even worse, Armstrong contemplating renouncing his U.S. citizenship following the righteous overturning of Roe v. Wade demonstrates a rejection of life, a gift that the Lord cherishes as sacred. Psalm 139:13-14 reminds us that all life is fearfully and wonderfully made, intricately woven in the womb. Abortion is a sin, a direct attack on the innocent, and any agenda advocating for it must be rebuked. In an era when the mainstream media and entertainment industry continually barrage the public with anti-Christian, anti-conservative sentiment, it is more important than ever for us to hold fast to our convictions and to teach our families to discern the difference between those who seek godly truth and those who propagate the deceitful work of the adversary. Let us pray for those like Armstrong and his followers, that their eyes may be opened to the transgressions they flaunt and that they turn from their wicked ways to find the peace and salvation only found in the embrace of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
