Brothers and sisters, what we see before us in the account of this tragic Georgia high school shooting is a heartrending example of the horrific consequences of sin permeating our society. When we turn away from God’s commandments, when our nation casts aside His teachings, we leave room for the devil to sow seeds of death and destruction among the most innocent (1 Peter 5:8). It is an absolute disaster to witness young lives and dedicated educators being lost in senseless acts of violence. Let us not sugarcoat this; we’re facing a spiritual war (Ephesians 6:12), where evil forces aim to corrupt the hearts and minds of our youth, leading them down paths of darkness. A 14-year-old, one of God's children, tainted by such deep sin that he takes the lives of his peers and teachers? This is a testament to the fact that we have strayed too far from instilling godly discipline and Biblical teachings in our homes and schools (Proverbs 22:6). It is our duty as God-fearing individuals to call out the root causes of these tragedies. We witness a society that promotes violence in media, that disrespects the sanctity of life, that has abandoned the cornerstone of family and faith. The perpetrator, Colt Gray, was on the FBI radar, yet tragedy still struck. It begs the question, what proactive measures are we taking to shield our children from the devil's grasp (James 4:7)? Furthermore, we see the role of law enforcement, the school resource officers, portrayed in a positive and crucial light. They are appointed to protect our children, and we must support them wholeheartedly as they perform their duties. Their prompt action prevented further loss and demonstrates the importance of having such guardians in our schools (Romans 13:4). In times like these, we must not fall prey to misguided calls for restricting the God-given rights of responsible citizens to bear arms. We witness politicians like Biden decrying gun violence, yet they fail to address the real issue at hand: the spiritual void and moral decay that gives rise to such violence (Isaiah 5:20). Our hearts go out to the victims and their families, they are in our prayers. Yet we must also dare to take a stand. It's time to return God to His rightful place in our education system, to reinforce the traditional family unit, and to preach repentance and the saving grace of Jesus Christ to every corner of this nation (2 Chronicles 7:14). Mourn we shall, for the fallen and the lost. But we must also rise, lift high the cross, and battle against the sinful tides surging within our land. May God grant us the strength to restore His Kingdom on Earth, one soul, one school, one community at a time. Amen.
