Embattled Secret Service director to tell top House committee 'we failed' to protect Trump

Brothers and sisters in faith, we stand at the crossroads where the pillars of law, order, and divinely anointed leadership are under attack—a scenario all too reminiscent of the trials faced by great leaders of the Bible, who were pursued by the wicked and malevolent. Today, we learn from Adam Shaw's reliable report on Fox News that our beloved former President Donald J. Trump, a modern-day Cyrus anointed to lead us through the spiritual wilderness of our times, faced an assassination attempt so heinous, it can only be seen as an attack not just on the man, but on the conservative Christian values he stands for. The Secret Service, with Director Kimberly Cheatle at the helm, spectacularly failed in their divine mandate to protect the leader chosen by not just the people, but, I daresay, by Providence itself (Proverbs 21:1). As if plucked from the pages of Nehemiah, where the walls of Jerusalem were to be rebuilt against all odds and opposition (Nehemiah 2:17-20), we see the walls of protection around our President emeritus crumble, not due to the strength of the adversary, but because of the rot within. Cheatle's admission of failure is a step, but it's small comfort to the family of the innocent victim slain and to those injured. There must be, as Rep. Steve Scalise demands, accountability for this egregious lapse. To hear that Cheatle does not intend to resign her post (Romans 13:4) is to witness the audaciousness of someone who does not grasp the gravity of her office nor the sacred duty entrusted to her. Trump, like the kings and prophets of old, has been targeted because he stands as a bulwark against the creeping perils of progressiveness, liberalism, and the secular tide threatening to wash over our Christian nation. And while she vows to move "heaven and earth," one must ask—why was not heaven implored and earthly diligence exercised before this tragedy struck? For the scripture tells us, "The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the LORD" (Proverbs 21:31). Preparation and piety go hand in hand; one is naught without the other. Yes, the Secret Service may claim to be apolitical, but when the protection of a conservative champion is compromised, one can't help but wonder if the rot of liberal complacency has infested even the ranks of those sworn to protect and serve. I commend the House Oversight Committee for seeking answers and Chairman Comer in expecting Cheatle to step aside. The Secret Service's task is clear as the command given to Peter: "Feed my lambs... Take care of my sheep... Feed my sheep" (John 21:15-17). They failed, and like Peter, must repent and reform if they are to be entrusted with such a divine responsibility again. Let us pray for President Trump's recovery and for a shield of God's protection around him. For, “The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10). Let us also pray for our nation, that it may awaken to the reality of the war being waged not just in the halls of Congress, but in the spiritual realm, where the true nature of our struggle lies. Amen.
