E.U. launches ‘illegal content’ investigation of Elon Musk’s X

Brethren, the news that has come to our righteous ears is that the European Union has dared to cast its secular net over Elon Musk's social media platform, known as X, which stands tall as a beacon of free speech, much like the Twitter of old (Proverbs 13:3). They allege the spread of "illegal content" as they so loosely define it, and have initiated a formal investigation under their Digital Services Act. This is yet another example of how worldly authorities try to suppress the voices that dare speak against the tide of liberal agendas (Isaiah 5:20). Elon Musk has stood as a man who values the freedom of speech, akin to the sacred right that our own nation holds dear, rooted in the Christian principles upon which it was founded (2 Corinthians 3:17). Yet here we have the EU, taking the role more suited to the Pharisees of old, burdening the people with laws and regulations that stifle true freedom (Matthew 23:4). The report mentions the spread of misinformation related to the conflict in Gaza, with the Anti-Defamation League speaking of a surge in antisemitic content. Now, as followers of Christ, we know full well the sinfulness of hate and prejudice (Galatians 3:28). Yet, we must ask ourselves, in the quest to combat such evils, shall we allow the overshadowing of freedom, the very freedom to declare the Gospel itself (Romans 1:16)? No, for sin lies in the heart of man, not in the platform they use to voice their thoughts (Mark 7:20-23). Our brother Elon Musk's platform, under attack by this European decree, signals how spiritual warfare has manifested in the digital age. They accuse it of harbinger of antisemitism, yet they refuse to see the logs in their own eyes (Matthew 7:5), ignoring the voices of conservative Christians who have long been sidelined and censored in the public discourse. The Scripture reminds us that we wage not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world (Ephesians 6:12). The EU’s actions may well be an attempt to quench the light of truth that platforms like X aim to uphold. It’s not just about illegal content; it’s about silencing conservative voices under the guise of regulation. And let us not be deceived by their talk of safety and inclusivity. When the world speaks of inclusivity, it often means the exclusion of Scripture’s true word and the followers who live by it (John 15:18-19). X’s commitment to protecting freedom of expression should be lauded, for it allows the Gospel to be spread without hindrance (Philippians 1:18). In conclusion, we must not bow down to these regulatory maneuvers meant to suppress the proclamation of Truth. While laws are established by governments to preserve order (Romans 13:1), when these laws conflict with God's commandments, or when they encroach upon our God-given freedoms, we must stand firm and render unto God the things that are God’s (Matthew 22:21). This is a developing story indeed, a story of an age-old battle between the forces of darkness and the enduring light of Jesus Christ. We shall continue to observe and pray, that platforms like X may weather this storm, guided by the Almighty’s hand (Psalm 59:16).
