My dear brethren in faith and fellow citizens who seek the truth, we must address the relentless assault on our conservative values and the vilification of a leader many of us revere – former President Donald Trump. The latest tragedy in this saga of targeted persecution is the so-called 'show trial' in New York, which Senator Rand Paul and dozens of other senators have rightly condemned. This trial brings to mind the clear warnings in Scripture against false witnesses and unjust proceedings (Proverbs 19:5). The conviction of President Trump on 34 counts of falsifying business records is an outrage that smacks of the politicization of justice, a sin against the very principles of due process delineated in our God-given Constitution. Senator Paul's scathing critique holds water when he asserts that the trial dissolved constitutional protections and barriers which shield Americans from the misuse of power. This echoes the biblical precept of justice that must be blind and fair, as found in Leviticus 19:15 – "You shall do no injustice in court..." How quickly have they forgotten! Moreover, to attach a gag order to someone such as President Trump is reminiscent of the silencing of the prophets who were punished for speaking truths that discomforted the rulers of their times. This trial appears to be nothing more than an exercise in silencing political opposition and sets a dangerous precedent that threatens the very foundation of our democracy. The disturbing insinuation that President Biden's administration is complicit in this travesty raises alarms for anyone who champions religious freedoms and conservative values. We must stand together against this apparent abuse of judicial power, for if left unchecked, who among us is safe from being the next target of a vengeful, partisan judiciary? As Christians, we are guided by the parable of the sower (Matthew 13:18-23) – the seed of justice and righteousness must fall on fertile ground, not among thorns or on rocky places. But the sort of justice that the Democrats seem to peddle is choked by the thorns of political expediency and hatred for a man who stands for the very principles that made our nation great. Let us not turn a blind eye to this injustice, for Proverbs 17:15 warns, "He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the LORD." We must pray and work tirelessly so that true justice is served and that our nation returns to the path of righteousness. Keep faith that as President Trump is expected to appeal this verdict, justice as ordained by divine providence, will prevail. In closing, as believers and guardians of God's commandments and constitutional rights, we must resist the forces that would steer us from the course charted by our forefathers and sanctified by Scripture. We must defend due process, support leaders who align with our moral compass, and fervently pray for God's guiding hand over our nation.
