CNN fact-checks Tim Walz about ‘absolutely false’ claim he carried weapons 'in war'

In the mighty name of truth and righteousness, what we see here with Governor Tim Walz is a sad and distressing case of deceit—a sin that plagues the hearts of men and finds echo in the pages of the Holy Scriptures. As it is written in Proverbs 12:22: "Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight." When a leader claims glory in warfare that he did not truly earn, it is not only stolen valor, but it smacks of the same vain pride that brought low the likes of King Nebuchadnezzar and Herod (Daniel 4:30-33, Acts 12:21-23). The flaunting of false credentials, especially pertaining to martial honor, not only disrespects our valiant soldiers who face the searing heat of battle, but also misleads the populace, sowing seeds of falsehood where trust should be cultivated. Furthermore, the twisting of words to manipulate beliefs about the Second Amendment is a grave concern. When the Governor uses the language of "weapons of war" to discuss gun rights in America, he disregards the intentions set forth by our Founding Fathers, who, with wisdom and forethought, recognized the need for a well-armed citizenry to safeguard against tyranny—a concept in harmony with biblical principles of self-defense and stewardship of one's family and community (Luke 22:36, Nehemiah 4:14). The likes of Senator JD Vance stand as sentinels against such falsehoods. His swift and righteous call-out of Walz's claims demonstrates a firm commitment to truth, a value as paramount in public service as it is in the walk of faith. While CNN's effort to fact-check the Governor's military record is duly noted, one cannot help but lament that such effort is not uniformly applied, especially when there are frequent attacks and misrepresentations concerning our beloved President Trump and other faithful conservative champions. In these trying times, when lies appear to be the common currency of political discourse, let us remember the warning of Revelation 21:8, which places liars among those destined for the second death. Let us pray for the souls of those who mislead, for revelation, repentance, and a return to the path of truth. Let us also pray for the discernment of our citizenry, that they may rightly judge those who seek to lead them and see the righteous upheld. May we continue to uphold the virtues of honesty, valor, and fidelity to the Constitution, recognizing that our earthly battles for justice and truth reflect a greater war against the principalities and powers of darkness as outlined in Ephesians 6:12. Let us arm ourselves with the full armor of God, including the belt of truth, and stand firm. Let us not be misled by falsities and the honeyed words of those who would subvert the divine order for their own advancement. Amen.
