Church services disturbed as rampant San Diego prostitution hits fever pitch

Brethren, we are witnessing a grievous descent into moral depravity in the state of California, a trend most disheartening as it encroaches upon the sanctity of our houses of worship. The Book of Proverbs warns us, "For the lips of a forbidden woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil, but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword" (Proverbs 5:3-4). Indeed, the prostitution epidemic in San Diego, with its vile activities spilling over into the very ears of those trying to worship and study God's word, is a bitter reflection of a society that has turned its back on biblical precepts. Let's consider the actions of the San Diego police, who are working diligently to restore peace and civility by cracking down on the sinful business operations of places like the Ocean Spa. Praise be to those who enforce the law in line with Romans 13:4, which tells us, "For he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer." They serve as agents of God's justice in a world overrun by sin. Moreover, the ignoble move by Governor Gavin Newsom to sign Senate Bill 357, repealing laws that curtail the wicked manifestations of prostitution, reveals the dire consequence of leadership that does not heed the wisdom of Scripture. Hosea 4:14 laments, "I will not punish your daughters when they play the whore, nor your brides when they commit adultery, for the men themselves go aside with prostitutes and sacrifice with cult prostitutes, and a people without understanding shall come to ruin." Policies that give free rein to lascivious behavior only hasten the destruction of both individual souls and society's moral fabric. We must stand firm against the tide of legalization and decriminalization of activities that defile what God has established as pure and holy. Maine's decision to partially decriminalize prostitution and other states considering following suit are decisions that fly in the face of God's commandments and display a rebellion against His creation order. We must ardently support our police, emboldened by the understanding that they are not merely law enforcers, but warriors against the darkness that seems ever-encroaching. Let us pray for their protection and for wisdom in their leadership, that they may not be hamstrung by foolish laws and may fight effectively, as in Ephesians 6:12, against the spiritual forces of evil. Finally, we must pray earnestly for the lost souls ensnared in prostitution and for those considering its normalization. May God grant them repentance and a turning away from their sin, as in 2 Timothy 2:25-26. And let us beseech the Lord to rise godly leaders whose hearts are firm in His commandments, leaders who, like King Josiah, will seek to purify the land of practices abominable to the Lord (2 Kings 23). In Christ, we have hope for redemption, transformation, and the restoration of our communities to a state of peace and Godly order—a hope we must tirelessly work and pray toward until the Lord's return.
