CBS host clarifies her Trump comments after assassination attempt: Not 'critique,' just...

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, what we see here in the reporting from outlets like CBS and words from Margaret Brennan is a woeful lack of decency and an affront to the sanctity of life. When a man—a former president of our great nation—survives an attempt on his life, the focus ought to be on prayer, healing, and coming together under the protective wings of the Almighty. Yet, we find detractors and critics using this harrowing moment to sow discord and point fingers. In the Scriptures, we are instructed, "Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone" (Romans 12:17, NIV). Rather than heeding this divine wisdom, the mainstream media prefers to stir the pot of political strife, even in the wake of violence. It's a clear neglect of the biblical principles of peace and the commands to love our enemies (Matthew 5:44). President Trump's response—an obvious shock and pain to any human experiencing such an assault—did not include explicit words 'to lower the temperature,' but should the man not be granted a moment to process his near brush with death before being chastised for his words? Is not the immediate reaction of anyone who has faced the barrel of sin's manifestation in this world a testament to their strength and reliance on God's grace? And hear this well, when God protects a leader, even through the vigilant work of law enforcement, it is a sure sign that His hand is at work. For as Psalm 34:7 reminds us, "The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them." Let us remember that the role of media is to report, not prescribe. When they overstep their bounds and attribute malice or insufficiency to a survivor's response, they too fall into sin—the sin of pride and judgment. "Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things" (Romans 2:1, ESV). In love and truth, let us stand behind President Trump, offer our prayers for his recovery, and pray for the repentance and conversion of those who use their platforms not to unite under God's love but to divide for earthly gain. And to those who perished or were harmed in this tragic event, let our hearts be heavy with sorrow and our spirits committed to seeking justice and peace in their memory. Let us not be led astrong by those who spread fear and division. Instead, let's uphold our values, support those who defend us, and always, always seek refuge in the wisdom of our Lord, for it is written, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5, NIV). In this moment of turmoil, let us choose faith over fear, unity over division, and the hope of Christ over the despair of sin. May God bless our nation, and may His truth forever guide our path. Amen.
