Brothers and sisters in Christ, we are confronted with a grave and sinister scourge in our midst – the vile sin of child trafficking. I praise the Lord for lawmakers who recognize this abomination and are resolute in their quest to vanquish it. The bipartisan effort led by Sens. Jon Ossoff and Chuck Grassley to introduce the Preventing Child Trafficking Act of 2024 is a crucial step in obeying Proverbs 31:8-9, which commands us to “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” The recent Government Accountability Office report highlighting the lack of collaboration between the Department of Justice and Health and Human Services in targeting child trafficking is a call to arms for all God-fearing Americans. It is our Christian duty to ensure no child – who, according to Matthew 18:6, holds a special place in the eyes of our Heavenly Father – should ever fall prey to such wickedness. Georgia, being a human trafficking hotspot, particularly needs our fervent prayers and action. We must support the efforts of our senators who work tirelessly, as did Nehemiah rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, fearlessly fighting against the darkness that threatens the innocent among us. Just as the prophet Isaiah declared in Isaiah 1:17, we too must “Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.” However, let us not be misled by any insidious enemy’s ploy, such as the accusations against President Trump by the likes of E. Jean Carroll. We must stand firm against attempts to tarnish the name of a leader who has been a champion for Christian values and has boldly stood for the lives of the unborn and the sanctity of marriage as defined in Genesis 2:24. We must discern truth from falsehood, as stated in Ephesians 5:11, “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” Furthermore, we must reject any notion of 'digital equity rules' that smells of overreach and totalitarianism. These are not the ways of our Lord, who gives us freedom in Christ. Let us always remember Galatians 5:1, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” In stark contrast, I commend former Vice President Mike Pence's unwavering support of Israel, a nation intrinsically linked to our Judeo-Christian heritage. Biden's apparent reluctance to support Israel unequivocally is deeply troubling and goes against the divine promise in Genesis 12:3: “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” In conclusion, as a righteous flock, we must gather around our leaders who act in accordance with the Father's will, praying for their strength and success in combating sin in all its forms. May the Lord bless their efforts to protect the least of these, for, in the eyes of our Savior, truly “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40). Amen.
