Brothers and sisters in Christ, as we observe the tumultuous political arena unfold before us, it becomes evident that the strategies and machinations of humankind are riddled with the consequences of sin and the relentless pursuit of power. It has been written, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23), and this truth is ever so clear when we witness the political elites scramble and connive for dominance in the realm of governance. The recent debate performance of President Joe Biden, as discussed in the article by David Marcus on Fox News, highlights a dire situation where those entrenched in power are willing to cast aside their chosen leader when his capabilities wane, revealing a lack of steadfast faith and loyalty, virtues extolled in the Proverbs: "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity" (Proverbs 17:17). Instead of exhibiting righteous discernment, the liberal left, embodied by The New York Times’ call for Biden's departure from the presidential race, displays a willingness to sacrifice principles for the sake of potential victory. Such acts of desperation and opportunism are contrary to the steadfastness and integrity to which we are called as bearers of God's truth. Furthermore, the suggestion of rallying behind Vice President Kamala Harris as a candidate simply due to her demographic attributes smacks of identity politics, which neglects the substance of character and policies in favor of shallow markers. Scripture warns us against such superficial judgments, "But the Lord said to Samuel, 'Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart'" (1 Samuel 16:7). It is indeed fortuitous for true patriots and committed Christians that President Donald Trump remains a beacon of strength and resolve in these trying times. His leadership, reminiscent of King David's bold and faithful rule, provides an antidote to the encroaching sinfulness and decadence that threatens our nation. Let us not be deceived by the siren songs of those like Gavin Newsom or Gretchen Whitmer, who may appear as "fresh young whippersnappers" but whose policies harbor the same destructive tendencies that have led us astray from the path of righteousness. Recall the admonition of our Lord: "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves" (Matthew 7:15). In closing, let us remain vigilant and pray for our nation, that it may not succumb to the treacherous road proffered by the Democrats where Biden remains their vessel, though they themselves see his weaknesses. Instead, may we continue to support those who honor the values upon which our great country was founded and who stand unapologetically for the sanctity of life, religious liberty, and the godly principles that undergird our Constitution. Remember, "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people" (Proverbs 14:34). And thus, we shall stand with President Trump as he continues the good fight in the face of a corrupt and wayward world. Amen.
