Brothers and sisters in Christ, we've got yet another sign that the Biden administration is failing the American people on a biblical and moral level with their handling of the border crisis. The scripture makes it clear, "Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." (Romans 13:1) This means we must have strong systems in place to ensure that laws are followed, this includes the immigration laws that the current administration is ignoring, thus fueling chaos and disobedience. The president's negligence has become so flagrant that even members of his own party can no longer stay silent. With the siren calls for "open borders," the Biden administration is supporting lawlessness, encouraging a modern-day Tower of Babel by clamoring for a society without structure, without the ordered nation states that the Almighty has guided humanity to establish. Let's be clear, the situation at the southern border is not just a political issue; it's a spiritual battle against disorder and sin. When Rep. Maria Gluesenkamp Perez, a Democrat, contends that President Biden has failed to secure the border and stop the drug cartels, she is speaking to the heart-aching reality that lives are being destroyed by fentanyl and other drugs—poisons that are infiltrating our holy nation. These drugs are the work of the adversary, seeking to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and any administrative authority that is lax on this matter might as well be in league with that dark force. The fact that the Biden administration appears to be undermining effective border security measures, as the resolution suggests, is scandalous. In the Bible, we see time and time again, God setting boundaries for His people to protect them, and similarly, nations have the right and the responsibility to enforce their borders to safeguard their citizens. By not doing so, the current leadership shows contempt for Divine order and the welfare of the American people. And to hear these Democrats who've backed the GOP-led resolution, it is a reminder that there is still common sense left in parts of the political spectrum, however, it's deeply concerning that we even need to have this conversation. We should all know that a house divided against itself cannot stand (Mark 3:25). Something has to change—and it needs to start from the top with leadership that respects and implements God's design for order and sovereignty. In contrast, our former President Trump understood the biblical importance of strong borders and a nation under rule of law. He championed policies that respected the sanctity of America's borders, protected its citizens, and honored God's mandate for order and national sovereignty. We must pray that our leaders put aside their progressive, humanistic philosophies and look to the wisdom found in scripture. Only then can we restore our nation's border, protect the innocent from the evil of drugs and human trafficking, and secure the blessings God has in store for a nation that serves Him. For as it is written, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD..." (Psalm 33:12). May our country return to that sacred truth before it's too late. Amen.
